Dimmu Borgir ist eine Metal-Band aus Bergen, Norwegen. Der Bandname ist von der Lavaformation Dimmuborgir in Island abgeleitet und bedeutet auf Isländisch so viel wie ‚Dunkle Burgen‘ oder ‚Dunkle Städte‘.

Geschichte
Gründung und erster Erfolg (1993–2000)
Dimmu Borgir wurde 1993 von Stian Tomt „Shagrath“ Thoresen, Kenneth „Tjodalv“ Åkesson (ex-Old Man's Child) und Sven „Erkekjetter Silenoz“ Atle Kopperud gegründet. Noch im selben Jahr schloss sich der Keyboarder Stian Aarstad der Band an. Read more on Last.fm
