Gong ist eine Progressive-Rock-Band, die von dem australischen Musiker Daevid Allen gegründet wurde. Ihre Musik ist dem Space Rock zuzuordnen.

Daevid Allen gründete die Band 1968. Damals hielt er sich als Mitglied der britischen Gruppe Soft Machine in England auf. Es kam jedoch zu Problemen mit seinem Visum und seine Aufenthaltsgenehmigung erlosch. Allen zog daraufhin nach Frankreich. Zur Zeit der Studentenunruhen in Paris gründete er mit seiner damaligen Lebensgefährtin Gilli Smyth die Band Gong. Read more on Last.fm
