Sie ist bekannt für ihre extravagante Kleidung und ausgefallene Auftritte, in denen sie z. B. in Männerkleidung oder in Gorilla-Kostümen auftrat. Ihr gestyltes, androgynes und betont unterkühltes Image ist bedeutender Bestandteil der Bühnenperson Grace Jones.
