William Lee Conley „Big Bill“ Broonzy (* 26. Juni 1893 oder 1898 in Scott County, Mississippi; † 15. August 1958) war ein US-amerikanischer Blues-Musiker und -Komponist.


1924 ging Big Bill Broonzy nach Chicago, wo ihm Papa Charlie Jackson das Gitarrespielen beibrachte; zuvor hatte Broonzy die Fiedel gespielt. 1929 machte er erste Aufnahmen, bei denen er sich selbst begleitete.

Um 1936 begann er, mit einer kleinen Band aufzutreten, mit Schlagzeug und Bass, gelegentlich ergänzt um Mundharmonika, Piano oder Blasinstrumente. Read more on Last.fm
