Kitty Wells (* 30. August 1918 als Ellen Muriel Deason in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, † 16. Juli 2012, ebenda) war eine US-amerikanische Country-Sängerin. Die "Queen of Country Music" wurde 1952 mit dem Song It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angles bekannt. Sie gilt als erster weiblicher Superstar der Countrymusik.


Bereits als Teenager trat Kitty Wells gemeinsam mit ihren Schwestern als Deason Sisters im lokalen Radiosender auf. Dort lernte sie den Country-Musiker Johnny Wright kennen, den sie 1938 heiratete und der auch ihr Manager wurde. Read more on Last.fm
