1994 startete die Band als Quartett, als Sänger Jeff Scheel, Keyboarder Doug Firley, Gitarrist Matt Dudenhoeffer and Drummer Kurt Kerns beschlossen den Song "guilty" zu schreiben und aufzunehmen. Der Song wurde für einen Sampler von St. Louis Künstlern an die regionale Radio Station KPNT gesendet.

Nachdem der Song auch im Radio gespielt wurde, wurde "guilty" schnell zur Nummer eins der lokalen Radiostationen. Daraufhin unterschrieb die Band einen Vertrag bei der New Yorker TVT Records. Read more on Last.fm
