The Jayhawks sind eine US-amerikanische Alternative-Country-Band.

Die Band fand sich 1985 in Minnesota zusammen. Die Gründungsmitglieder waren Mark Olson (akustische Gitarre und Gesang), Gary Louris (E-Gitarre und Gesang), Marc Perlman (Bass) und Thad Spencer (Drums). Ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum erschien 1986. Mehr Popularität erreichten sie mit Blue Earth 1987. Zu dieser Zeit zeigte die von Olson geschriebene Musik sehr starke Einflüsse von Rootsrock und Country. Read more on Last.fm
