Grendel wurde 1997, damals noch unter anderem Namen, gegründet. Der Name Grendel, in den die Band wenig später umgetauft wurde, entstammt einer alten mythischen Sage ("Beowolf").

Im Jahr 2000 veröffentlichte Grendel die erste Promo-CD, auf der es u.a. den Dance Floor Hit "Strangers" zu hören gab. Innerhalb kurzer Zeit wurde dieses Lied in vielen Locations in den Niederlanden, aber auch in Deutschland, Belgien und Spanien, rauf und runter gespielt. Read more on Last.fm
