Allan Holdsworth (* 6. August 1946 im britischen Bradford, Yorkshire + gestorben 15. April 2017 in Vista, Kalifornien, USA) war ein englischer Jazzgitarrist.

Leben

Holdsworth hatte Klavierunterricht bei seinem Vater, einem Pianisten. Erst mit 17 Jahren kam er zur Gitarre. Als frühe Vorbilder nennt er immer wieder Charlie Christian und John Coltrane.

Entgegen anderslautenden Gerüchten hat Holdsworth nie Saxofon gespielt (vergl. Reaching for the Uncommon Chord). Read more on Last.fm
