Whitesnake ist eine britische Hard Rock-Band, die 1978 durch den vormaligen Deep Purple-Sänger David Coverdale gegründet wurde. Zu Beginn setzte die Band Deep Purples Mittsiebzigerjahre-Bluesrock fort, um Anfang der 1980er Jahre kommerzielleren Glam Rock und Hair Metal zu spielen. Whitesnakes kommerzieller Erfolg fällt in die 1980er Jahre, als sie vier nacheinanderfolgende Alben in die Top 10 der britischen Charts brachten, und mit dem 1984er Album Slide It In in den USA Doppel-Platin-Status erhielten.
