Josh Pyke war 12 als er in seiner ersten Band spielte und seinen ersten Auftritt vor 650 Eltern und Schüler an seiner Grundschule absolvierte.Die Lust am Gitarre spielen und erste Songwritingbemühungen kamen im Alter von 14 auf. Trotz seiner Eignung für Songwriting und seiner Leistungen, blieb er "unter dem Radar" während seinem High-School-Jahr in der Fort Street High School.
