Loverboy wurde 1980 von Mike Reno (Gesang), Matt Frenette (Schlagzeug), Paul Dean (Gitarre) und Scott Smith (E-Bass) Doug Johnson Keyboard gegründet.

Mit Loverboy veröffentlichten sie 1980 ihre erste LP, deren Songs an den klassischen Hard-Rock-Stil angelehnt sind und kamen damit gleich auf Platz 13 der amerikanischen Charts. Der wohl bekannteste Titel von Loverboy ist "Turn me lose" ein Rockstück par Exellance, das oft fälschlicherweise den 90ern zugeordnet wird aber aus den 80ern stammt. Read more on Last.fm
