Tom Tom Club war eine weiße Funk-Band, ein Nebenprojekt von Tina Weymouth, Bass & Vocals, und Chris Frantz, Drums, die gleichzeitig Mitglieder der Talking Heads waren.

Ihr erstes Album wurde 1981 auf den Bahamas aufgenommen und brachte einigen Erfolg mit Hits wie Genius of Love und Wordy Rappinghood.
