Mark Freuder Knopfler, OBE (* 12. August 1949 in Glasgow) ist ein schottischer Musiker und früherer Journalist (Yorkshire Evening Post) und Dozent (Loughton College, Leeds). Er ist mehrfacher Grammy-Gewinner und war Kopf und Gründer der Classic Rock-Gruppe Dire Straits, mit der er weltweite Bekanntheit erlangte.
