Rainbow (englisch für Regenbogen) ist eine britische Band und wurde 1975 von Ritchie Blackmore gegründet, der nach seinem Ausstieg bei Deep Purple hiermit ein Soloprojekt startete. Er engagierte den Sänger Ronnie James Dio und drei weitere Musiker der kurz vorher aufgelösten Rockband Elf aus New York City, die er durch einige gemeinsame Touren kannte. Blackmore nannte seine neue Hauptband zuerst Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, später Blackmore's Rainbow und seit dem Jahr 1977 Rainbow. Read more on Last.fm
