The Real Thing waren eine schwarze Soulpop-Band der 70er Jahre aus Liverpool.

Gründungsmitglieder waren 1970 Chris Amoo, Dave Smith, Kenny Davis und Ray Lake. Musikalisch orientierten sie sich an den Temptations und Barry White, in den ersten Jahren beschränkte sich ihr Erfolg jedoch meist nur auf die Clubs Englands.
