The Breeders sind eine amerikanische Indie-Rockband, die 1988 als Nebenprojekt von Kim Deal von den Pixies und Tanya Donelly von den Throwing Muses gegründet wurden. Zu ihnen gesellten sich Josephine Wiggs und Shannon Dorton, der eigentlich Brad Walford heißt.

Das erste Album Pod wurde von Steve Albini produziert. Danach folgten gelegentliche EP-Veröffentlichungen.

Nach der Trennung der Pixies veröffentlichten sie 1994 ihr erfolgreichstes Album Last Splash, das den Hit Cannonball enthielt. Read more on Last.fm
