The Libertines (zu deutsch “Wüstlinge”, “Befreite”, “Freidenker”) ist eine vierköpfige Rock-Band aus London.

Carl Barât schloss bereits 1997 erste Bekanntschaft mit seinem zukünftigen Bandkollegen Peter Doherty. Er teilte sich ein Apartment mit dessen Schwester Amy-Jo, durch die sie auch begannen, Songs zu schreiben und später beschlossen, eine Band zu gründen. Beide brachen ihr Studium an der University of London ab und zogen in eine gemeinsame Wohnung in Camden Road. Read more on Last.fm
