Die ersten Drifters

Die erste Formation wurde 1953 von dem Tenor Clyde McPhatter ins Leben gerufen. Nachdem Ahmet Ertegun erfuhr, dass die Dominoes ihren ehemaligen Leadsänger McPhatter entlassen hatten, nahm er diesen unter Vertrag, falls er eine neue Band gründen würde. Das tat er dann auch, allerdings war Jerry Wexler mit den entstandenen Aufnahmen nicht zufrieden, sodass McPhatter im Juni eine neue Band gründete. Read more on Last.fm
