Stanley Newcomb „Stan“ Kenton (* 15. Dezember 1911[1] in Wichita, Kansas; † 25. August 1979 in Los Angeles) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Pianist, -komponist und Orchesterleiter.

Stan Kenton wuchs in Los Angeles auf und spielte bereits als zehnjähriger Junge Klavier. Er erlernte das Klavierspiel unter anderem bei seiner Mutter, bei Frank Hurst und Earl 'Father' Hines. 1930 spielte er in San Diego, ging 1934 als Pianist zu Everett Hoagland, dann zu Gus Arnheim, Vido Musso und Johnny Davis.
