Venom (engl.: „Gift“) ist eine Metal-Band aus Newcastle in England. Sie wurde 1979 von Cronos (Gesang, Bass), Mantas (Gitarre) und Abaddon (Schlagzeug) gegründet.

Bandgeschichte
Ihr erstes Album erweckte durch die antichristlichen Liedtexte Medienaufmerksamkeit, aber auch die technisch relativ simple Musik war für 1979 wegweisend. Ihr zweites Album „Black Metal“ war der Namensgeber für die gleichnamige Musikrichtung. Ironischerweise gaben die Bandgründer einige Jahre später zu Read more on Last.fm
