Billie Holiday (* 7. April 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania als Eleanora Fagan Gough; † 17. Juli 1959 in New York), auch Lady Day genannt, gilt als eine der bedeutendsten Jazzsängerinnen aller Zeiten.

Die Informationen über ihre Kindheit beruhen überwiegend auf ihrer Autobiografie Lady sings the Blues von 1956, deren Wahrheitsgehalt jedoch umstritten ist.
