Die Atlanta Rhythm Section entstand um 1970. Produzent und Manager der Band war Buddy Buie( vormals Classics IV ).Ihre erste LP nahmen sie 1972 auf.Die Gründungsmitglieder waren Barry Bailey (lead g), J.R. Cobb (g), Robert Nix (dr), Paul Goddard (b) und Dean Daughtry (keyb).
