Sir Edward William Elgar, Bt, OM, GCVO (* 2. Juni 1857 in Broadheath bei Worcester; † 23. Februar 1934 in Worcester) war ein englischer Komponist. Sein bekanntestes Werk ist die Hymne Land of Hope and Glory, die unter anderem jedes Jahr bei der Last Night of the Proms gespielt wird.

Leben

Edward Elgar war der Sohn eines Musikalienhändlers, Klavierstimmers und Organisten und erlebte seine ersten Jahre über der elterlichen Musikalienhandlung, des Elgar Brother´s Music Shop. Read more on Last.fm
