Ravi Shankar (bengali: রবি শংকর, 'Rabi Śaṃkar'; * 7. April 1920 in Varanasi; † 11. Dezember 2012 in San Diego; bürgerlicher Name: 'Rabindra Shankar Chowdhury') war ein indischer Sitarspieler und Komponist.

Er gründete 1949 das Indian National Orchestra, 1962 die Kinnara School of Music in Bombay, 1967 eine Zweigstelle in Los Angeles. Er unternahm zahlreiche Konzertreisen, spielte im Jahr 1967 auf dem Monterey Music Festival und 1969 bei dem legendären Woodstock-Festival Read more on Last.fm
