Die Blues-Rock-Band George Thorogood & the Destroyers wurde in den frühen Siebzigern von einem ehemaligen Baseballspieler gegründet. Ihr gradliniger, einfach gestrickter, aber origineller Rock wurde um 1980 immer beliebter, als die Band oft im Radio gespielt wurde. Der Song "Bad to the Bone" (1982), auch Titel des gleichnamigen Albums, machte sie bekannt.
