war eine amerikanische Jazz-, Pop- und Bluessängerin.

Dinah wurde als Ruth Lee Jones in Tuscaloosa geboren. Mit drei zog sie nach Chicago und wuchs dort auf. Sie begleitete dort einen Kirchenchor am Klavier. Mit 18 Jahren wechselte sie vom Gospel zur Popmusik, nachdem sie einen Nachwuchswettbewerb gewonnen hatte. Von 1943 bis 1946 sang sie in der Band von Lionel Hampton. Read more on Last.fm
