Curtis Mayfield (* 3. Juni 1942 in Chicago; † 26. Dezember 1999 in Roswell/Georgia) war ein US-amerikanischer Soul-Musiker

Mayfield begann sein musikalisches Schaffen früh. Mit sieben Jahren sang er im Gospel-Chor zusammen mit Jerry Butler und bald darauf trat er der Band The Alfatones bei. Er brachte sich das Gitarrenspiel und Songwriting selbst bei. 1956 schloss er sich The Roosters an; spielte, sang und schrieb Lieder fortan in wechselnden Gruppen in Chicago und New York.
