Procol Harum ist eine britische Rock-Band. Die Musiker, die sich bei Procol Harum zusammenfanden, hatten zuvor als The Paramounts einige Singles mit Beat und Rhythm and Blues aufgenommen.

Procol Harum waren im Frühjahr 1967 weniger eine Band als ein Lied. "A Whiter Shade Of Pale", mit einer Pick-Up-Band im Keller einer Methodistenkirche aufgenommen, wurde kurz nach Veröffentlichung 2,5 Mio mal verkauft.
