The Specials sind eine englische 2-Tone Ska-Musikband.

The Specials wurden 1977 in Coventry, England zunächst unter dem Namen The (Coventry) Automatics gegründet, bevor sie sich 1978 umbenannten. Die Sänger der Band waren Terry Hall und Neville Staples. In einem von Arbeitslosigkeit und rassistischen Spannungen geprägten England spielten sie, bestehend aus schwarzen und weißen Bandmitgliedern, eine Mischung aus Ska, Reggae und Punk.
