Lorez Alexandria
Lorez Alexandria (b. Chicago, 1929; d. 2001) was a jazz and gospel singer. She began as a singer in churches in her teens, and spent 11 years as part of an a cappella choir directed by Lucshaa Allen. She later turned to jazz, and remains best known for her album Lorez Alexandria the Great (Impulse, 1966), which featured her in a variety of contexts ranging from big bands to small groups, including several tracks with the Wynton Kelly Trio.
