Die britische Psychobillyband The Meteors wurde 1979 zuerst unter dem Namen Raw Deal ins Leben gerufen, nannte sich aber schon bald in The Meteors um. Beeinflusst vom obskuren 1950er Rock'n'Roll und Rockabilly, von alten Helden wie Screaming Lord Sutch ("Jack The Ripper"), mit dem sie sogar eine Platte aufnahmen, sowie vom Punk erschufen The Meteors den Psychobilly und schufen damit einen Kontrast gegenüber dem eher soften Rockabilly.
