Die Jungs von Bombay Bicycle Club begannen schon im frühen Alter von 15 Jahren Musik zu machen. Vorerst nannten sie sich 'The Canals', nachdem sie verschiedene Pseudonyme verwendeten, einigten sie sich auf "Bombay Bicycle Club". Sie begannen bei Schulveranstaltungen und kleinen Londoner Veranstaltungen wie "Lark in the Park" und "Jacksons Lane" zu spielen. Die Band nahm bei der "Road to V" teil und gewann, wodurch sie die Möglichkeit hatte das "V Festival" im selben Jahr zu eröffnen.
Des weiteren trat die Band bei den "Reading and Leeds Festivals" 2007 auf.
