Buck Owens (* 12. August 1929 in Sherman, Texas; † 25. März 2006 in Bakersfield; eigentlich: Alvis Edgar Owens jr.) war ein US-amerikanischer Countrysänger und Wegbereiter des Bakersfield Sound.


Owens wuchs zur Zeit der Weltwirtschaftskrise in armen Verhältnissen im ländlichen Texas auf. Die Familie zog Anfang der 1930er Jahre in der Hoffnung auf bessere Lebensumstände gen Westen. Bereits in Arizona, brach ihr selbst gebauter Wagen zusammen und man ließ sich notgedrungen in der Kleinstadt Mesa nieder. Read more on Last.fm
