Martinho Da Vila
Martinho da Vila (b. February 12, 1938, birth name Martinho José Ferreira), a Brazilian musician, is one of the most prominent samba musicians. Born in Duas Barras in the interior of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro; his music shows influence from that region, such as the calango rhythm. He is also politically active and a prominent figure and spokesperson for afro-brazilian issues as well as for the Brazilian Communist Party.[1] He is an author of 6 books, and has been a recording artist since 1969.
