Hugh Ramopolo Masekela (* 4. April 1939 in Witbank bei Johannesburg) ist ein Musiker aus Südafrika.

Der Anti-Apartheid-Aktivist Trevor Huddleston soll ihn in seiner Jugend zum Trompetenspiel gebracht haben. Ab 1961 war er im Exil in den USA, kehrte aber nach Beendigung der Apartheid wieder in seine Heimat zurück. Von 1964 bis 1966 war er mit der Sängerin Miriam Makeba verheiratet.

1968 landete er seinen größten Hit mit "Grazing in the Grass" von dem Album "The promise of a future". Read more on Last.fm
