Charlie Parker

Charlie „Bird“ Parker (* 29. August 1920 als Charles Parker jr in Kansas City, Kansas; † 12. März 1955 in New York) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazzmusiker (Altsaxofonist) und Komponist.

Neben Dizzy Gillespie (Trompete) und Thelonious Monk (Klavier) ist Parker einer der Schöpfer und herausragenden Interpreten des Bebop und gilt darüber hinaus als Wegbereiter des Modern Jazz. Er hat die fast 100-jährige Jazzgeschichte so stark beeinflusst, dass sie meist in eine Ära vor und eine nach ihm eingeteilt wird. Read more on Last.fm
