Die 1989 in Washington D.C. gegründete Band 'Jawbox' hat insgesamt 5 Rock-Alben veröffentlicht. Jawbox bestand bis zu ihrer Auflösung (17.04.1997) aus den Band-Mitgliedern J. Robbins, Bill Barbot, Adam Wade, Zach Barocas und Kim Coletta. Dabei wurde die Gruppe von verschiedenen Künstlern und Bands wie bspw. Fugazi, Effigies und Naked Raygun beeinflusst. Der Musikstil von Jawbox erinnert an ähnliche Rock-Bands, wie Shudder to Think, Arcwelder oder Tar.
