Norman, Raymond und Gerard trafen sich 1987 in Bellshill, einem kleinen Vorort von Glasgow und nahmen eine erste Single namens Golden Shower auf, die auf einem schottischen Indie-Label erschien. Schlagzeuger Francis McDonald, Mitglied der befreundeten Band BMX Bandits, gesellte sich dazu, um die Band komplett zu machen. Später wurde er durch Brendan O'Hara ersetzt.

In nur einer Woche entstand 1989 das erste Album "A Catholic Education". Mit diesem Debüt begründeten Teenage Fanclub das Genre Indie-Pop maßgeblich mit. Read more on Last.fm
